Gilda Hromadnic Habitat for Humanity România
In Moinesti, Romania, 10 km from my hometown, at one of the biggest hospitals around the area, 33 doctors and nurses are working in unsanitary conditions. The ambulance dispatch center can hardly be described in words: moldy, with improvised sanitary rooms and without access to the sewage system. Over 11 cities and 65,000 people from Bacau county depend on an ambulance dispatch center that cannot offer proper conditions for those who work there.
Habitat for Humanity Romania, a non-profit organization I deeply respect and for which I worked in the past, is doing an accelerated build to move these doctors and nurses in a new building fitted to their needs. A proper place where they can operate or rest, to be able to save lives.
They need our help as much as we need their help, particularly in the current health situation.
